DHAKA: The telecom regulator deferred the 3G application submission date to August 1 from July 10.
Besides, eligible operators’ name will be announced on August 5 instead of July 18.
After changing the deadline for three times, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission fixed September 2 for the 3G auction. The auction winners’ name will be announced on the same day.
A BTRC notice signed by Legal and licensing deputy director Tarek Hasan Siddique disclosed this information.
It is informed, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission deferred 3G auction because they are not well prepared.
For lack of experts, reducing VAT, BTRC was in a fix and couldn’t find the way out.
Besides, mobile operators raised voice against 15 percent VAT in addition to spectrum charges.
As per the 3G rules and regulations, the floor price for per Megahertz spectrum will be $20 million.
